Swing & Rhythm Workshop

In this workshop, we will approach the concepts of swing and rhythm both theoretically/technically and practically. We will go beyond the movements we learn in the lessons and learn various ways to express ourselves through our dance. Topics we will examine in our workshop:

🔸Why Swing music is called Swing?

🔸What is the Swing feeling that is always discussed?

🔸What can be done to improve this feeling?

🔸Swing and rhythm relationship

🔸The origin and physical presentation of the rhythm

How to create new rhythms?

Music & Musicality Workshop

In this workshop, we will approach the concept of musicality, both theoretically/technically and practically, with basic musical knowledge for dancers and enthusiasts of all levels. Topics we will examine in our workshop:

🔸 What does 4/4 music mean?

🔸Why do dancers count 8? (Then why is there 6 steps? 🤔)

🔸What is 12-bar Blues with 32-bar Swing? What are the differences and what does it tell musically?

🔸 Up/down beat, blue note and syncopated rhythms

🔸 What is riff, break, bridge, quotation, phrase, chorus? How does it enrich our dance within the framework of musicality? 💃🕺

🔸 How do we understand parts of different structures? (Ex: AABA, AAAB, ABAC,… etc.) And how do we adapt our dance to that music?

The duration of our workshops is 80 minutes, and there will be theoretical/technical knowledge and application. Workshops are open to all levels and enthusiasts, including those with no dance experience.
